I am standing on the Birkenkopf hill in Stuttgart. Even when I was a child, this place had a magical appeal for me. It was made from the debris and rubble which the war left behind in Stuttgart, and for me it held many treasures – a place of adventure. Today I am standing in this place because it gives me a view, because I can look over my city, a city full of the joy of life, fully of creativity and culture. Anyone who stands here feels the strength that comes from this place, a place which at the same time symbolizes the past and the future, devastation and hope, and which gives breathtaking views.
I am a lawyer because this profession unites the abstraction of the mathematician with the creativity of the artist.
